CORN MOISTURE TESTERTEST for MOISTURE in all CORN You Purchase Look for 11-12% MOISTURE CONTENT WHEN YOU PURCHASE YOUR CORN
Use this Corn Moisture Tester to test all the Corn you find or use. It will test for 8 to 20% Moisture which is all you need to test for when using corn. You need to search for DRY Corn at approximately 11-12 % DRYNESS versus Grain Elevator Corn at 14-1/2 to 15%. Grain elevator corn must be less than 15% moisture to avoid MOLD. In fact corn stored anywhere must be less than 15% to avoid MOLD. Also many Farm Feed Stores have bagged shelled corn that is 14-1/2 to 15% DRY and that is only just O.K. but you need to find dryer corn than that. Also your supplier may inadvertenly slip you some WET Corn and you should have a way of monitoring that. Note that your corn Stove, Furnace or Boiler will run much better with 11-12% DRY Corn, increaes your BTU/Hr output, and tends to form less clinkers. Dry corn can help eliminate costly agitator and auger repair, and save you money in the long run. Every geographic region has a corn-stove freindly farmer who owns a corn stove himself, has driers, and dries his corn down to 11-12% and sells to other farmers and local people with corn stoves. You need to look around and find these people. Even they can inadvertenly and mistakenly slip you some WET Corn ... so you need a Corn Tester. It is used by people that own and operate Corn Stoves, Corn Furnaces, Corn Boilers, or any device that burns corn. NOTE: For $299, you can buy an upgraded tester model that will test from 5% to 40% Moisture ... but you really don't need it if you are just testing for corn moisture content. Also for $349 we have another model that will test up to 39 or 40 grains, but if you are testing for corn, you really don't need this.
WOOD PELLET testing can be used with this Corn Moisture Tester and it is not as accurate as the wood tester, but still surprisingly accurate for the 8% to 20% range. WOOD PELLET TESTERS cost more money and will test in either the 4% to 23% range or some test 5% to 40%. Check out our other Corn Stove items listed in our Ebay Store.
NOTE we use this moisture tester to also test WOOD PELLETS (limited to 8% to 20% moisture) even though it is not specifically designed for wood pellets. It is convenient to use only one tester for both corn or wood pellets. The reading for wood pellet moisture (limited to 8-20%) may not be totally accurate, and if you want an accurate reading, then you should probably buy (higher price) our WOOD PELLET TESTER, see below under options. We have WOOD PELLET MOISTURE TESTERS that will test in the range of 4% to 23% and others test in 5% to 40% range, but again, they cost more money.
OPTIONS:
(1) WOOD PELLET TESTER at $495 tests 4% to 23% moisture; (2) WIDER TESTING RANGE: For a wider testing range of 5 to 40%, priced at $299, or (3) MULTIGRAIN MOISTURE TESTER that we can sell you for $349. A picture of this Multgrain Moisture Tester is the similar as it looks physically identical to the Corn Stove Moisture Tester. It will test up to 40 (or 39) grains with a moisture testing range of 5% to 40%. It will include testing of grains such as: corn, wheat, oats, soybeans, barley, hay, cherry pits, olive pits, black sunflower seeds, etc.
